The very first annual MasterCook Matarangi event is now over for 2016. It was a great fun for all of us – contestants, guests and our staff enjoyed every moment. We will be back with the prize giving night which will be held on the 29th July with live music from around 6pm. Limited tickets available. The restaurant is closed for the public on the prize giving night.

Maree Taylor, this week’s contestant entered with a ‘bacon wrapped pork medallion’ dish and a ‘chocolate and hazelnut mousse’ dessert. The crowd’s response at the end of the night was a big round of applause to Maree. She finished the night with 89.4 points.
Our next contestant is Anita Clark on the 16th June.
Another competitor entered the MasterCook kitchen early Thursday morning with a dream and vision of her pending dishes for the evening. Half way into the cook she realised how much of a task she had undertaken. But through determaniation and hard work Anita achieved making 3 types of hand made pastry to feed 60 hungry guests with her farmhouse organic chicken and leek pie and traditional lemon tart.
Our next contestant is Neil Tombs on the 23rd June.
Our next contestant Neil Tombs, our very own Golf Course Manager thought he has got a hard job as a Superintendent until yesterday. He soon realized being a chef in charge is a hell of a job. Neil was under extreme pressure the whole day to make sure his recipe (braised beef cheek on a potato pie and banoffee pie) is going to be served at 6:45pm sharp. He rose to the challenge and surprised everyone with his dishes. Well done grassman.
Our next contestant is Keith Law on the 30th June.
On week 4 Keith entered the mastercook kitchen to cook his main of ‘grape harvest chicken’ and desert of ‘banana chocolate and almond cake’.Keith stayed cool calm and collected throughout the day serving up his dish right on time. He finished with a very respectable 69.3 and a whole new respect for how professional our hardworking kitchen staff are.
Our next contestant is Ros De Coek on the 7th July.
Much loved local Ros De Coek was our week 5 contestant, Ros cooked ‘golden chicken with a white bean stew and potato croquettes’. Her desert was a citrus mousse decorated with edible flowers and a melting moment.
The restaurant looked fantastic with Ros using her artistic flair to decorate her tables. She finished off the night with a well deserved 76.1.
Our next contestant is John Rose on the 14th July.
